My hubby always requests me to make him this dish, so I like to call this dish ‘Husband’s Happiness’.
This slow-cooker Swiss steak is tender and flavorful. The rich sauce is perfect over mashed potatoes.
Ingredients:
| Ingredient | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Onion | 1 medium, sliced |
| Mushrooms | Fresh, thinly sliced (about 8 oz) |
| Chicken broth | 1/3 cup |
| Heavy cream | 1/4 cup |
| Dry sherry | 1/4 cup |
| Flour | 1/4 cup |
| Oil | 4 tablespoons |
| Seasoning salt and pepper | To taste |
| Thyme, chopped | 1 tablespoon |
| Paprika | 1 1/2 tablespoons |
| Parsley, chopped | 2 teaspoons |
Instructions:
- Prepare the ingredients: Slice onion and mushrooms.
- Prepare the meat: Pound beef steaks slightly, season with salt and pepper.
- Coat with flour: Combine flour, thyme, and paprika in a dish. Coat each steak in the mixture.
- Sear the steaks: Heat oil in a skillet. Sear steaks on both sides until golden brown. Transfer to slow cooker.
- Prepare the sauce: Cook onions and mushrooms in the same skillet until softened. Deglaze with sherry, scraping browned bits. Stir in chicken broth and heavy cream. Pour over steaks.
- Slow cook: Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until tender.
- Serve: Garnish with chopped parsley and enjoy!
