Demond Wilson Was More Than Lamont Sanford — He Gave Sanford and Son Its Heart

For millions of television viewers, Demond Wilson will always be remembered as Lamont Sanford, the patient and sharp-witted son constantly caught between his father’s schemes and the realities of running their junk business.

But Lamont was more than simply the straight man in a comedy.

Wilson brought a grounded, understated presence to Sanford and Son, creating a character who could react to the chaos around him without losing the warmth and humanity that made Lamont so relatable.
