Mozzarella Onion Rings
Ingredients
- 2 large onions, sliced into thick rings
- 8 mozzarella sticks, cut into pieces
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 cups bread crumbs
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Cooking spray, for greasing
Directions
- Preheat & prep: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly spray with cooking spray.
- Prepare onions & cheese: Separate the onion slices into rings. Insert a piece of mozzarella into each ring.
- Set up coating stations:
- Dish 1: Flour
- Dish 2: Beaten eggs
- Dish 3: Bread crumbs mixed with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper
- Coat the rings: Dredge each stuffed onion ring in flour, shake off excess, dip in eggs, then coat in the bread crumb mixture.
- Bake: Place rings on the prepared sheet, lightly spray tops with cooking spray. Bake 15–20 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Serve: Enjoy hot with your favorite dipping sauce!
