Mozzarella Stick Fries Recipe
Ingredients:
12 mozzarella sticks (string cheese)
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs
1 cup breadcrumbs (Italian seasoned or panko for extra crunch)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil)
Marinara sauce (for dipping)
Instructions:
Prepare the Mozzarella Sticks:
Cut each mozzarella stick in half to create shorter “fries.” You can freeze them for about 30 minutes to help them hold their shape during frying.
Set Up the Breading Station:
In three separate shallow bowls, set up your breading station:
In the first bowl, place the flour and season with salt and pepper.
In the second bowl, beat the eggs.
In the third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt.
Bread the Mozzarella Sticks:
Take a mozzarella stick, coat it in flour, shaking off any excess.
Dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off.
Finally, roll it in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to ensure the breadcrumbs adhere well. Repeat with all mozzarella sticks.
Fry the Mozzarella Stick Fries:
In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat about 1-2 inches of oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
Carefully add the breaded mozzarella sticks to the hot oil in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 1-2 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
Use a slotted spoon to remove the fries from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
