Dealing with a Barking Dog

A blonde woman and her husband were lying in bed, listening to the neighbor’s dog bark in the backyard. It had been going on for hours, and any hope of a peaceful night was slipping away. Finally, she threw back the covers. “I’ve had enough of this,” she announced, getting up and heading downstairs. The barking continues, so whatever she has done has not brought the quiet they both wanted. His question gives her the opportunity to reveal how differently she has understood the problem.

The joke delays that explanation until the final line. Until then, her determined departure could lead to any number of imagined solutions. The reader knows only that she has become frustrated enough to take action and that her husband is waiting for the result. When she returns satisfied, her confidence briefly suggests that she has accomplished her purpose………READ MORE NEXT PAGE
